Trees (2023)

I created the TREES (2023) series of acrylic paintings in early 2023, shortly after my 94th birthday. Unlike the TREES series I had painted decades earlier, the present series presents tree trunks, chopped off at the top. There are no branches or leaves. Just tree trunks standing in a row, dark against a colorful background, reminding us by their truncation about the violence in society and the death of so many young people.
